Launched earlier in 2016 as a concept watch, the InnoVision 2 from Ulysse Nardin (ulysse-nardin .com) is built around 10 innovations. Most notably, the design is the first to use a dual constant-escapement mechanism to streamline power delivery. The brand also applied a new sapphire coating to the center wheel bridge to bolster mechanical stability, and made innovative use of glass: for the balance bridge as part of a shock-protection system, and for the prominent three-dimensional minute hand. A decade ago, Ulysse Nardin created the InnoVision 1, a concept model from which eight of 10 innovations eventually found their way into production watches. Expect the same to happen with many of the InnoVision 2’s new technologies.
