$45 Million Turnkey Mansion in Aspen’s Red Mountain

Jeff Bezos and Walmart heiress Ann Walton Kroenke are only two of the UHNWI homeowners in Aspen‘s wealthiest neighborhood, Red Mountain. Referred to as “Billionaire Mountain" in some circles, the tony enclave saw its most expensive residential sale last year: $108 million. That four-acre spread was snapped up by casino tycoon Steve Wynn, but a nearby residence hoisted onto the market as a turnkey opportunity at $45 million affords equally breathtaking vistas of Aspen Mountain and Independence Pass for less than half the cost. Lane Johnson and Steven Shane of Compass hold the listing.

Set along East Reds Road, the brand-new mansion comes fully furnished with not quite 7,200 square feet of living space. Lauren Scannell of Elevate Development & Design is responsible for its contemporary appeal, alongside architect Miscione Design Studio. Builders Incline Construction and Evolve Structural Design also brought the six-bedroom crib to life.

Wood cladding and stacked stone volumes comprise the home’s exterior, evoking a warm feeling, while floor-to-ceiling windows frame magnificent natural vistas. Through the double-height entrance, a dark stone wall contrasts against the living room’s beige and white color palette. A monolithic fireplace trimmed in great sheets of polished marble keeps things toasty in here while the epic landscape views are just beyond sliding glass doors that open onto a covered patio.

Towering bi-fold doors slink open to join the living room with the kitchen, where there’s ample space to chef up simple snacks and gourmet meals on two large islands and wood-paneled cabinetry. Just outside, an alfresco dining area is a great spot to soak up some sun.

In addition to the one in the living room, there are three other fireplaces across the home, including within the primary suite. An expansive terrace has snowcapped mountain views, the walk-in closet is lined with custom built-ins, and the glass-walled bathroom is finished in wood and stone.

Plush secondary bedrooms include a bunk room with built-in beds and a guest suite wrapped in an overscaled and violet-hued floral wall covering. The entertainment room has plenty of built-ins, a pool table, a TV lounge for watching the Super Bowl, and a wet bar for whipping up Palo Santos. Oenophiles will appreciate the wine fridge.

Home prices in Colorado were up 2.3 percent year-over-year in January, according to Redfin, and at the top of the year, the Centennial State’s most expensive home for sale came to market at $78 million.
