London, Jul 21, 2025 – From now to November 23, 2025, 45 Park Lane will host an exhibition in collaboration with Phaidon and Artspace to mark 30 years of Phaidon’s Contemporary Artists Series. Launched in 1995, Phaidon’s Contemporary Artists Series is the longest running book series dedicated to contemporary art, and this year it celebrates its 100th artist monograph.
Described by Artforum as ‘the boldest, best executed, and most far-reaching publishing project devoted to contemporary art,’ the series features the greatest contemporary artists of our time. Among them Mark Bradford, Cecily Brown, Rashid Johnson, KAWS, William Kentridge and more will be on display, with contributions from leading critics, curators and writers such as Okwui Enwezor, Massimiliano Gioni and Hans Ulrich Obrist.
The Contemporary Artists Series was launched by Iwona Blazwick, at the time a commissioning editor for Phaidon, and later, from 2001 to 2022, Whitechapel Gallery director. The series’ unique editorial approach, which prioritises a diverse variety of perspectives from multiple experts, includes a conversation with the artist, a long survey text, and a shorter focus text on a single body of work, in addition to artist’s writings, a studio visit and a comprehensive chronology. Recent monographs in the series have featured the artists Cameron Jamie, William Monk and Anri Sala.
This special anniversary exhibition will feature an exclusive library of all 100 artist monographs—one of only three complete collections worldwide—alongside limited-edition artworks commissioned for the series.
Renowned figures such as Cecily Brown, William Kentridge, Rashid Johnson, Yoko Ono, Jean-Michel Othoniel, Adam Pendleton, Dana Schutz, and others will be featured, offering a comprehensive insight into their artistic evolution and impact.
