Surrounded by embassies, luxury malls and office buildings, Ploenchit was already one of the most prestigious areas in Bangkok. As the British Embassy has just welcomed Park Hyatt Bangkok as a neighbour, Ploenchit is now an even more desirable destination.

The Executive Chef, Franck Detrait, brings a wealth of experience of working with culinary greats in leading hotels in Europe and big name like Guy Pommelet and Christian Constant greeted me with a big smile and a warm welcome.
I started the night with first course of Yellow Fin Tuna Tartare with mango, mizuna, passion fruit and cucumber. My taste buds awakened with the excitement of this delicious and refreshing dish. Chef Franck then asked me if I would like to try the scallops. Although I tend to avoid scallops unless I am confident they are properly cooked to bring out the mildly sweet and delicate flavour, Chef Franck did not disappoint and presented me Hokkaido Scallops with crushed and toasted hazelnuts , florets of cauliflower and wholegrain mustard. The Hokkaido Scallops are definitely a must. Continuing to charm me with his food, Chef Franck served me the Lobster Risotto, which was undoubtedly my highlight of the night. The perfectly cooked creamy rice compliments the crunchy preserved shingi mushroom with white wine vinegar, topped with a beautiful piece of lobster.
Although slowly filling-up , I chose Wild French Monkfish Ossobuco with polenta , black olive and grilled jalapeño for my main course. Chef Franck asked me to join him in the kitchen to put the final touch on the dish. It was fun moment to be inside the kitchen and I could literally feel the heat and sense the passion of his team. The monkfish was delicious and went well with the black olive and grilled jalapeño, a very interesting dish indeed. For wine connoisseurs, there is a wide selection of fine labels from across Europe and a various choices by the glass.
