Lürssen is well-known for building behemoths of the sea, and the 525-foot Blue, delivered last summer, maintains the brand’s position as the foremost gigayacht builder. It’s the fifth- largest yacht in the world, one of the largest with diesel-electric hybrid propulsion, and the only yacht of its size with variable-speed generators, to optimize cruising.
Designed by Terence Disdale, Blue’s mammoth, 14,785-gross-ton volume comes from both its length and impressive 74-foot beam, providing more than enough space, inside and out, for a full roster of amenities. The superyacht, rumored to have cost $600 million to build, has a lavish owner’s suite, 16 VIP cabins for guests, and 12 cabins for 48 staff and crew.
