For the past several years, smaller watches have been trending. According to veteran dealer Matthew Bain, 36 mm to 38 mm is the ideal size, and many collectors agree as the demand for smaller watches grows. This trend is part of a larger movement towards more accessible and inclusive watches for all wrists, regardless of gender. Female collectors, like Lung Lung Thun, have voiced their preference for 34 to 37 mm watches. Brands are responding by reimagining iconic models with smaller proportions, such as Chopard’s 36 mm Alpine Eagle and Breitling’s 36 mm Navitimer. At this year’s Watches & Wonders, a tiny Cartier Tank measuring just 24 mm x 16.5 mm stole the show.

Parmigiani Fleurier has embraced creating modestly sized timepieces for all genders. The brand launched its Tonda PF collection in 2021 with a 42 mm model and later introduced a successful 36 mm version, which won the Women’s Watch Prize at the GPHG. Following this success, Parmigiani added a 36 mm two-tone variation last year. Now, they have unveiled three new 36 mm versions of the Tonda PF Automatic in new dial and metal combinations with gem setting.

The new Tonda PF models include one in rose gold with a sand gold dial and diamond accents priced at $84,900, another in rose gold with a warm gray dial and diamond accents priced at $68,700, and a two-tone stainless steel and rose gold with a white citrine dial and diamonds on the hour markers priced at $34,300. Each watch features the classic Tonda PF curves with a 36 mm size and Parmigiani’s automatic PF770 manufacture movement with a 60-hour power reserve. The rose gold models include diamonds on the indices, bezel, and bracelet, while the two-tone version has diamonds only on the hour markers. All gold and diamonds used are fully traceable and ethically sourced.
