(Hong Kong, January, 2025) – This Chinese New Year, Carna by Dario Cecchini invites diners to experience Italian New Year traditions through a special family-style menu, offering a fresh perspective on the festive season in Hong Kong.
In Italy, New Year celebrations revolve around hearty dishes that symbolize abundance, prosperity, and community—values shared by Dario’s larger than life personality and nose-to-tail philosophy. The limited time menu features two iconic Italian dishes, Ribollita Toscana and Porchetta, each steeped in history and tradition.
Menu Highlights
Ribollita Toscana: Originating from Tuscany, Ribollita translates to “reboiled,” reflecting its humble beginnings as a dish usually made from reheated leftovers. Dating back to the Middle Ages, it was traditionally prepared by servants who collected bread and vegetables from feasts, transforming them into a rich and hearty soup. At Carna, this iconic dish is elevated with seasonal vegetables, soft poached eggs, cannellini beans, and the earthy aroma of black truffle—a comforting reflection of Italian resourcefulness and communal spirit.
Porchetta: A celebrated culinary tradition from Umbria, Porchetta has been a festive centerpiece for centuries. This boneless pork roast is seasoned with garlic, sage, rosemary, and a blend of aromatic herbs, then slow-roasted to achieve a tender interior and a golden, crackling crust. In Italian culture, Porchetta symbolizes prosperity and is synonymous with family gatherings and celebrations. At Carna, our rendition pays homage to this rich legacy, delivering a dish that embodies the joy of coming together over a shared table.
Guests will also enjoy other standout dishes from the menu, such as the creamy Burrata Caprese paired with basil sorbet, the rich and smoky Polpette Cacio e Uova (Italian Cheese and Eggs Balls) and the ever-popular Italian Costata di Manzo—a 45-day dry-aged Italian beef ribeye grilled to perfection. End the meal on a sweet note with the luscious Tiramisù al Pistacchio, featuring layers of Sicilian pistachio paste and mascarpone cream.
The full family-style menu is priced at HK$988 per person (minimum 4 guests), with an optional wine pairing of Cafaggio Chianti Classico for HK$388.
