เครื่องยนต์ W-12 นับเป็นหัวใจสำคัญของรถยนต์ Bentley ตั้งแต่เปิดตัวครั้งแรกในปี 2003 โดยโลดแล่นอยู่ในรถยนต์สมรรถนะสูงหลายรุ่น อาทิ Continental GT, Flying Spur และ Bentayga เดิมที Bentley วางแผนให้ Batur รถยนต์รุ่น Limited-Run เป็นบทสรุปของเครื่องยนต์ W-12 แต่แผนการได้เปลี่ยนแปลงไป โดยรถยนต์รุ่นพิเศษจาก Mulliner รุ่นใหม่ แม้จะไม่ได้รับการขนานนามอย่างชัดเจนว่าเป็น “รุ่นสุดท้ายของเครื่องยนต์ W-12” แต่จะเป็นหนึ่งในไม่กี่รุ่นของ Bentley ที่จะมาพร้อมกับเครื่องยนต์นี้

Bentley has announced plans for a special farewell to its iconic W-12 engine with the unveiling of its third coachbuilt Mulliner model. While details about the vehicle are scarce, one key highlight is that it will feature the most powerful iteration of Bentley’s trademark 12-cylinder engine to date.
The W-12 engine has been a hallmark of Bentley’s lineup since its debut in 2003, powering some of the brand’s most potent vehicles like the Continental GT, Flying Spur, and Bentayga. Initially, it was announced that the limited-run Batur would serve as the W-12’s swan song, but Bentley has since revised its plans. The upcoming Mulliner model, while not explicitly termed the “final W-12,” will indeed be one of the last Bentleys to utilize the engine.
Expected to be even more powerful than the Batur, which boasted over 740 horsepower and 737 ft lbs of torque, the new Mulliner will likely offer exhilarating performance. With an anticipated acceleration from zero to 60 mph in 3.3 seconds and a top speed of 209 mph, it promises to be a formidable grand tourer.
Bentley plans to produce only 16 examples of the new Mulliner, underscoring its exclusivity. Set to be unveiled on May 7, the vehicle is poised to command a significant price tag, given the hefty starting prices of its predecessors—the Bacalar at $1.9 million and the Batur at $2.1 million.
While Bentley prepares to bid farewell to the W-12, it’s not abandoning internal combustion engines entirely. The brand is developing an electric vehicle expected to debut in 2025 or 2026, but it will continue to offer electrified models with eight-cylinder engines as it transitions toward a more sustainable future.
