After navigating through a turbulent period, Gulfstream has successfully rolled out its highly anticipated G700 business jet.
The aerospace giant recently delivered the first two units of its flagship aircraft to customers, marking a significant milestone following what Gulfstream president Mark Burns described as “the most rigorous certification program in company history.”
Initially slated for Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) type certification by late 2023, Gulfstream aimed to deliver 15 G700s last year, with 50 nearly ready for delivery by the end of 2023. However, certification was delayed until last month due to internal changes to the FAA’s type certification processes, reflecting heightened standards following recent aviation incidents.
The G700 underwent stringent certification procedures, achieving two performance improvements along the way, including shorter takeoff and landing distances than initially projected. With additional FAA certifications obtained in late April, customer deliveries and entry into service quickly followed.
Gulfstream’s G700 stands at the pinnacle of business aviation, boasting the industry’s most spacious cabin and top-tier speed capabilities. It can fly ultra-long distances of up to 7,750 nautical miles at impressive speeds ranging from Mach 0.85 to Mach 0.935, setting over 50 speed records before entering service.
While its performance is remarkable, the interior of the G700 truly shines. Offering up to five living areas, including an innovative “ultra galley” and a lavish grand suite with a shower, the cabin can be fully customized to meet the owner’s preferences.
