‘A man should look as if he had bought his clothes with intelligence, put them on with care, and then forgotten all about them.’– Hardy Amies
A man in a suit commands more respect from his peers than without one. People make their assessments in the first few seconds of seeing one another; assessments that go way beyond how well you are dressed and how neat and tidy you might look. There is much more to our clothing choices than we might imagine. To understand this is to take the time cracking the code of how Fujimoto perceives the packaging of a man.
Fujimoto ‘s true influence is from the Italian cut. Distinct in its slim silhouette sleek modern and stylish. Shorter and tight fitting, the shoulders are padded while lapel notches and buttons are positioned higher than the British or American cuts. How he visualizes the look is surprisingly not at eye level but from a position above the head. Upon understanding the body and structure of the client, he then judges which designs suit the client best.
Fujimoto’s concept of making the client look exceptional comes from understanding the body shape of each person. If a bulging stomach needs diversion then the buttons are shifted down a notch or two. If height is an issue, adjusting the length of the jacket is perfected. Only when the client is happy is his measure of success.
