an inland tri-umph
Often overlooked in favour of the beach, Sri Lanka’s lush interior offers some of the South Asian country’s most breath-taking scenery. Promising to lure luxury travellers inland, Tri is a six-acre resort on the shores of Koggala Lake, roughly five miles from the southern coast. Eleven suites and villas with glass walls and local jakwood terraces are nestled like modern aeries among the cashew trees, where blue-tailed bee-eaters and dozens of other bird and butterfly species parade by in a fluttering rainbow. A traditional white-sailed dhoni ferries guests to the lake’s eight isles. Respite also awaits at the 70-foot-long pool cantilevered over the lake.
