Introducing New Sonos Ace Features for Even Better Sound

Major software update includes category-firsts, like TrueCinema and dual-listener TV Audio Swap

Bangkok, Thailand – June 13, 2025 – When we launched our first-ever Bluetooth headphones a year ago, we set a new standard for high-fidelity sound, comfort, and cinematic immersion – earning numerous accolades, including Time’s Best Inventions of 2024. Now, we’re taking that vision even further.

Today, listeners can experience new innovations on our existing headphones through a software update that’s rolling out around the world. Added features include the highly anticipated TrueCinema technology, updated TV Audio Swap for two, smarter Active Noise Cancellation, and enhanced call clarity.

Built to Last: A Core Design Philosophy

One of Sonos’ long-standing design principles has been to build premium products that not only last, but get better over time.

“Since our earliest days, we’ve used meaningful software updates to deliver new features to existing products, from 24-bit audio support and Trueplay, to the recently debuted Speech Enhancement technology on Arc Ultra," said Jason White, Head of Software at Sonos.

And that’s because longevity isn’t just a nice-to-have. According to NIQ, almost half of shoppers (47%) now prefer to own fewer higher-quality items. It’s a clear signal that people are craving more lasting value from their tech—whether it’s to save money or make more sustainable choices.

So when it came time to debut our first-ever headphones in a category filled with flash and fast churn, we took a more considered approach.

“Sonos Ace was intentionally designed to deliver lasting value in both form and function. With premium materials, a timeless design that resists trend-driven obsolescence, and a platform built for powerful software updates, it embodies a smarter, more sustainable approach to product development. And importantly, it keeps devices in use and out of landfills," said Dana Krieger, VP Design at Sonos.

Whats New in Sonos Ace

The new feature-rich software update keeps pace with how people listen and live today.

  • Personal Home Theater for Two: We’ve updated our TV Audio Swap to let two individual listeners enjoy the same TV audio in sync on their own Sonos Ace headphones when connected to a Sonos soundbar.
  • Realistic Surround Sound: Designed specifically for Sonos Ace, Sonos’ innovative TrueCinema technology understands the dynamics of your space, acoustically treats it, and makes it sound like you have a beautifully tuned 3D audio system right in your headphones.
  • Enhanced Noise Cancellation: Enjoy uninterrupted listening with Active Noise Cancellation that now adapts to your hair, glasses, and hats in real-time using advanced sensors to compensate for sound leaks.
  • Smoother More Natural Calling: Stay connected with clearer, more natural conversations thanks to high resolution calls and SideTone, which allows you to hear a bit of your voice during calls while ANC is on.

“We’re pleased to deliver experiences we’ve heard our customers ask for, like the ability for two people to watch TV with their Sonos Ace headphones at the same time. We’ve also worked hard on our TrueCinema technology to create an incredible open-air listening effect so it feels like you aren’t wearing headphones," said Chris Kallai, VP Product at Sonos.

“Our goal has always been to create products that earn their place in people’s lives for years, and this Sonos Ace update is a great example of that. It proves that your best tech investment doesn’t need to be your newest, it just has to be built right," added White.

These new features will begin rolling out on Sonos Ace starting today through a free software update. Additionally, the Sonos Arc Ultra soundbar featuring our new Speech Enhancement feature is now available through a free software update as well.
