Cherry blossom season marks the arrival of spring in Japan, bringing with it the joy of a new year and the promise of new beginnings. Celebrated for centuries, the spectacular cherry blossoms, which envelop cities and countryside of Japan in clouds of pink flowers, are the cultural centrepiece of the country’s springtime festivities. Today, traditional ‘hanami’, or flower viewing parties and picnics have become an essential experience for every visitor.

 

TOKYO

Experience the essence of spring at The Ritz-Carlton, Tokyo with a series of Sakura-inspired offerings. Indulge in the Sakura Afternoon Tea at The Lobby Lounge from March 10 to April 30, where you’ll savour sakura-themed savoury bites, finger sandwiches, and a variety of sweets, served alongside a special trolley service with sakura confections. Enjoy a delightful Sakura Brunch at Towers on select dates throughout March and April, featuring an exquisite spring-inspired appetizer platter with eight varieties, and the option to pair it with rosé sparkling wine. Finally, raise a glass with Spring Cocktails at The Bar from March 1 to April 30, offering four seasonal cocktails crafted with ROKU Gin and HAKU Vodka, infused with floral, fruity, and herbal notes. Celebrate the season in style with these exclusive experiences.

Located ideally in the heart of Tokyo, with numerous hanami spots nearby, The Tokyo EDITION, Ginza and The Tokyo EDITION, Toranomon are celebrating sakura season with an exclusive Sakura Package from March 15 to April 6. The package includes daily breakfast for up to two guests, sakura cocktails, a sakura-inspired room amenity and a Hanami Map to guide guests to the best spots in Tokyo to view the cherry blossoms.

Celebrate the arrival of spring at The Westin Tokyo’s Japanese Restaurant “Mai” with a seasonal sakura kaiseki featuring delicate dishes like cherry blossom sea bream and fresh spring vegetables, complemented by a curated selection of premium Sakurahime sake. In addition, Sky Bar “Escalier” offers a refined experience with sakura-themed cocktails, including sparkling cherry blossom vodka and a dessert cocktail symbolizing the end of winter. This elegant celebration of spring runs from March to April, combining traditional flavors, exquisite sake pairings, and beautiful floral arrangements for a truly immersive seasonal experience

KYOTO

As Kyoto awakens to the first signs of spring, The Ritz-Carlton, Kyoto embraces the season with exclusive offerings. From March 19 – April 16, signature Japanese restaurant MIZUKI is serving a sakura-themed menu featuring a sparkling tea only available during sakura season, and the elegant Lobby Lounge presents The Ritz-Carlton Kyoto × PIERRE HERMÉ PARIS Takeout Afternoon Tea. From the end of February to April, Chef Katsuhito Inoue, head chef at Chef’s Table by Katsuhito Inoue, welcomes diners with special sakura-themed dishes. Guests can also savour three classic sakura-inspired cocktails which capture the lively spirit of springtime in Kyoto.

NARA

From April 1 to May 31, JW Marriott Hotel Nara, “Harmony” – A Seasonal Cocktail Celebrating Japanese Elegance is a cocktail that captures the essence of Japan’s vibrant seasons with a blend of seasonal fruits and traditional flavors. Crafted with delicate Roku Gin, cherry liqueur and the sweetness of fresh cherries, this elegant drink features a red hue above and matcha liqueur at the base for a striking visual contrast.  “Harmony” – A Seasonal Cocktail Celebrating Japanese Elegance is a true celebration of the seasonal beauty of Japan.

 

OSAKA

From April 1 to 13, The Ritz-Carlton, Osaka invites guests to embrace the beauty of sakura season at The Bar, where elegant seasonal décor, live music, and a curated selection of complimentary cocktail snacks create a refined celebration of spring. Guests can indulge in Sakura Night, a bartender-crafted cocktail inspired by the delicate essence of cherry blossoms, while also savoring signature pastries filled with sakura cream, available for purchase at The Gourmet Shop from March 1 to April 15.

At The St. Regis Osaka, guests can bask in the spring sunlight flooding in through the windows of the iconic The St. Regis Bar as they enjoy The St. Regis Sakura Afternoon Tea, available from March 1 through April 30, when sakura-infused sweets and savouries take center stage. The hotel’s Italian restaurant La Veduta is also welcoming spring with a seasonal dinner course, ‘Primavera’, a delightful fusion of cherry blossom-inspired flavours and traditional Italian cuisine.

Guests at W Osaka will be able to enjoy a hanami experience in the heart of Shinsaibashi district, the city’s vibrant main shopping area. From February 17 to April 15, a Hanami Sakura Afternoon Tea – featuring spring-inspired sweets and savoury dishes like Sakura Lime Raspberry Dorayaki, Sakura Shrimp and Spring Cabbage made with fresh seasonal ingredients, all served in a jewellery box adorned with delicate sakura illustrations – will be available at MIXup, W Osaka’s coffee house facing Midosuji Street.

At the hotel’s signature teppanyaki restaurant MYDO, a Spring Teppanyaki Lunch Menu will tempt diners with seasonal delights such as Steamed Sakura Sea Bream with Sakura Sauce, Miyazaki Nakamura Wagyu Beef or Canadian Lobster Okonomiyaki. Guests can also enjoy a selection of sakura-scented cocktails and mocktails in LIVING ROOM.

 

FUKUOKA

As the cherry blossoms begin to paint Fukuoka City in hues of pink from around mid-March, The Ritz-Carlton, Fukuoka will be offering a selection of exquisite sweets and savory treats in a Sakura Afternoon Tea, available from March 15 to April 30 at The Diva Café, the hotel’s elegant coffee house. At The Ritz-Carlton Spa, Fukuoka, guests can indulge in relaxing multisensory experiences that celebrate the delicate beauty of sakura. A soothing oil massage surrounded by the scent of cherry blossoms and specialized spa treatments capture the essence of spring, offering a serene escape inspired by the iconic blossoms.

NIKKO

In contrast to the larger cities of Japan, Nikko is a scenic destination known for its rich cultural heritage, breathtaking mountain landscapes and UNESCO World Heritage sites. As spring unfolds, delicate cherry blossoms appear across Nikko, adding soft touches of pink to temple gardens, riverbanks and the shores of serene lakes.

The Ritz-Carlton, Nikko has partnered with local farmers to revive the Nyoho strawberry, named after the region’s famous Mount Nyoho. The exceptional Nyoho strawberry takes center stage in the Oku-Nikko Seasonal Experience Afternoon Tea, which pairs carefully selected Japanese teas with strawberries, incorporating them into both sweet and savoury dishes for a surprising and delightful culinary experience. The Nyoho Strawberry Parfait transforms the rare strawberry into a luscious sorbet and purée, artistically layered to evoke the image of the earth awaiting the thaw of springtime. The Bar has also introduced a sophisticated High Tea, available from 16:00 to 20:00 daily, featuring a tasting of four distinct Tochigi-grown strawberries – Nyoho, Tochiotome, Tochiaika and Milkyberry – paired with the bar’s signature cocktail, ‘Strawberry Kingdom’.

YOKOHAMA

At The Westin Yokohama, signature Japanese restaurant Kissui-sen presents a seasonal Sakura Bento Box for guests to enjoy the fresh colours and flavours of spring in dishes such as Sakura Sesame Tofu, Sakura Sea Bream and Sakura Shrimp. Kissui-sen is also presenting special lunch and dinner courses celebrating the season’s bounty with exquisite dishes such as Firefly Squid with Urui and Miso Vinegar, Grilled Cherry Salmon with Kinome and Simmered Duck with Sansho Pepper.

A Sakura & Strawberry Afternoon Tea, available at the Lobby Lounge from March 17 to April 25, welcomes the arrival of spring with an elegant selection of sakura blossom and strawberry-themed treats, perfect for a special teatime. The menu includes sweet and savoury items such as the exquisite Sakura Mousse Sablé Chocolate, which harmonizes silky sakura mousse with a crisp sablé base, as well as a Seasonal Green Pea and Mangalitsa Bacon Française with sakura consommé reflecting the freshest flavours of spring. seasonal bites as they enjoy an enchanting spring evening with stunning views from the top floor of the hotel.
