After its major renovation, The Nai Harn Phuket resort, welcomed guests in January with its beautiful beach-side resort. There is a Mediterranean vibe to the white-layered façade, which offers the 130 luxurious, generous-sized rooms and suites, all painted with an unforgettable postcard-perfect view of Nai Harn beach, a crescent of soft sands, and the island-dotted lapis lazuli Andaman Sea.
Occupying the premises of The Royal Phuket Yacht Club, the resort sits on land that was graced by the likes of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, Prince Albert of Monaco, former French president Jacques Chirac and Roger Moore, who once fought Dr No on his famously eponymous James Bond Island (Khao Phing Kan) off the coast of Phang Nga bay, a short speedboat trip ride away.
Now, after its 18-month refurbishment, the resort incorporates a legendary splendor with a modern, luxurious upgrade throughout. Rooms feature wood floors, patterned carpets, rattan furniture, oversized king-sized beds with plush pillows, rain showers and deep body-long bathtubs fashioned for a good old soak.
Its crème de la crème is the Royal Ocean View Suite, with its Press for Champagne button, for whenever the bubbly mood strikes. The highlight of the room is a generous 40-sqm verandah lined with pots of overflowing pink bougainvillea and decorated with four-poster daybeds for relaxing during the day. Should you like, you may request for a private chef to prepare a gourmet dinner under the stars.
Apart from a swimming pool that perfectly contrasts with the turquoise ocean, the bay area allows for kayaking, swimming, and even snorkeling during high season. The spa offers customized Spa Voyages which can be enjoyed at the poolside cabana, or in the beach spa suites. Spa voyages are inspired by earth’s elements, including the purity of the Andaman sea, gentle sea breeze, and glow of the setting sun.
The bar, Reflection, is romantic and sexy with a reflective azure pool and sunken lounging pods. While you’re admiring the sunset, try one of the signature cocktails prepared exclusively for the luxury resort — Rumble and Lady Nai Harn, using Chalong Bay Rum, an indigenous spirit to Phuket made from organically grown sugar cane. There is also an extensive wine especially created for the resort by wine critic James Suckling.
Cosmo and Rock Salt (which is adjacent to the beach) offer delightful menus designed to please both guests and walk-in customers. Both restaurants are overseen by culinary director Kevin Fawkes, whose resume includes working with Gordon Ramsay and René Redzepi.
