There’s no better way to take time off your busy schedule than to spend a year travelling and exploring the roads less travelled. Belmond is offering Robb Report readers with a chance to not just travel, but to also stay with them at their various properties around the world.

The around-the-world adventure kicks off in the USA with an exclusive cocktail reception for the guests and 20 friends at New York’s ‘21’ Club. The next stop sees you going south to St. Martin in the Caribbean, staying at Belmond La Samanna. Here, you can create your own Americas Cup-style experience with a race in one of the original America’s Cup yachts.

Venturing even further south, you’ll stay at the Belmond Copacabana Palace in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where you’ll be fitted with costumes for attendance at the Carnival Ball 2016, then to Belmond Hotel das Cataratas alongside the Iguassu Falls for a detox with nature walks and an exclusive tour with resident biologist Wilson Fernandes to see the rare Lunar Rainbow phenomenon.

The journey continues through South America to Peru, where there will be a choice of experiences across five hotels in the country – including Belmond Palacio Nazarenas and Belmond Miraflores Park – along with the luxury train Belmond Hiram Bingham. You’ll then stay at Belmond Sanctuary Lodge in Machu Picchu and take part in a traditional shaman ceremony. Additional options across the region include a guest-designed custom sweater with wool from a local alpaca farm, high-altitude fitness training or an art and history course with local experts. At Belmond Maroma Resort & Spa in Mexico’s Rivera Maya, there will be an opportunity to take part in a turtle rescue programme.

Travelling back north to California, you’ll stay at the Old Hollywood favourite Belmond El Encanto in the Santa Barbara hills. Here, you’ll be treated as the ‘author in residence’ and given the opportunity to work with a ghostwriter on an original film script. Upon completion, you’ll jet over to Belmond Mount Nelson Hotel in Cape Town to shoot the movie with actors and a production crew from a local film company or school. You can choose to direct, act – or both – while inviting friends along for cameo roles. And while in Africa, you may embark on a safari in Botswana with a stay at the three Belmond Safari lodges, and embark as as an apprentice to a local ranger, learning to scout for animals and contribute to preservation efforts.

The next stop is Europe and a three-night stay at Belmond Hotel Cipriani during the Venice Film Festival. The famed Venice Simplon-Orient-Express will provide the transport on its annual Paris to Istanbul journey – after enjoying the services of a personal shopper in Paris’s for a wardrobe for the trip.

Wine lovers, rejoice, for you’ll next travel through France, Portugal, and Italy on a quest for the countries’ best vintages. At Belmond Reid’s Palace in Madeira, you can name your personal rose flower, which will be shipped home annually on a special birthday or anniversary of your choice. A stop in Tuscany’s Florence at Belmond Villa San Michele will include the opportunity for you to press your own wine and create a custom label for the bottle. Finally, you, together with your special half along with five other couples, will travel on two barges through Burgundy aboard Belmond Afloat in France.

On 13 August, you’ll embark on the inaugural two-night journey from Dublin to Northern Ireland and Belmond Grand Hibernian plus the dramatic Giant’s Causeway. A quiet interlude follows in England, in the picturesque Oxfordshire village of Great Milton at Belmond Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons, where you’ll get to plant a tree in your name and enjoy a head-to-head cook-off with the property’s two-star Michelin chef.

Mallorca in Spain offers a peaceful seaside escape at the Belmond La Residencia, where there will be the chance to learn from a local artist how to paint – or have a portrait painted. A grand tour of Italy follows, including an exclusive cocktail party for up to 20 at Belmond Hotel Caruso’s pool on the Amalfi Coast. In Portofino, you’ll have the opportunity to create a playlist with Belmond Hotel Splendido’s legendary pianist and perform a duet with him. At the Belmond Grand Hotel Timeo, there are tickets to a highly coveted opera with exclusive backstage passes. On to the Belmond Grand Hotel Europe and Russia’s White Nights of St Petersburg, with a private tour of the Hermitage Museum and private river boat cruise.

In Asia, you’ll spend a week in Myanmar at Belmond Governor’s Residence and cruise on Belmond Orcaella andBelmond Road to Mandalay – volunteering at the local clinic run by the brand’s onboard physician Dr Hla Tun. In Koh Samui, Thailand, you can welcome up to 20 friends and family for a private full-moon party at Belmond Napasai. After the celebrations, the journey continues to Cambodia for a stay at Belmond La Residence d’Angkor and a private sunrise tour of Angkor Wat before it opens to the public for the day.

On board the Eastern & Oriental Express, you’ll embark on a two-night journey from Singapore to Bangkok, journeying via the rural villages of Malaysia and Thailand. The experience includes a visit to the Bridge over the River Kwai and the Thai-Burma railway museum. Flying into Luang Prabang, you’ll check into Belmond La Résidence Phou Vao for a full day recovering in the Mekong Spa. During your hotel stay, you’ll also learn to distill your own Mekong Whiskey – using unusual ingredients such as rattlesnake and scorpion.

The world tour concludes back in the USA, with a screening of the your original film at Belmond Charleston Place – the grand finale of a lifetime’s adventures in a single year. Along with 100 of their friends, you’ll toast to your cinematic achievement with signature cocktails. At the screening, you may also have the option to display the paparazzi photos snapped during the stop in Venice.
