Patek Philippe, debuted its first non-limited-edition stainless-steel Calatrava dress watch in more than 50 years. The semi-integrated Weekly Calendar movement (based on the brand’s self-winding caliber 324 used in its Travel Time watches) tells the day of the week, the date and the month. The Ref. 5212’s silvery opaline dial features intricate Arabic numerals based on the fastidious handwriting of one of Patek’s skilled in-house designers.
The new timepiece’s 40 mm by 10.79 mm case design, baton indexes and Dauphine-style hands are modeled after a one-of-a kind 1955 Ref. 2512 timepiece that Patek Philippe kept in a museum for years before it sold at Sotheby’s in 2012 for $962,000.
