Regent Seven Seas Cruises® Celebrates Keel Laying for Seven Seas Prestige™ at the Fincantieri Shipyard in Marghera

Ultra-Luxury Cruise Line Enjoys Milestone Moment for First New Ship Class in 10 Years

SINGAPORE, 3 April, 2025Regent Seven Seas Cruises®, the world’s leading ultra-luxury cruise line, has marked the keel laying for Seven Seas Prestige at the Fincantieri shipyard in Marghera, Italy, honouring a pivotal moment in the construction of the brand’s next generation of ship, which will once again redefine luxury travel.

Seven Seas Prestige represents our continued legacy of elevating the standard of ultra-luxury travel and we are proud to cement our place as leaders in the industry with this exciting milestone," said Jason Montague, Chief Luxury Officer for Regent Seven Seas Cruises. “Expertise, passion, and dedication to perfection are shared values between Regent and Fincantieri, and there is no one better placed to bring Seven Seas Prestige to life as we usher in a new age of excellence for Regent Seven Seas Cruises."

Harry Sommer, President and Chief Executive Officer of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd, Jason Montague, Chief Luxury Officer of Regent Seven Seas Cruises, and Patrik Dahlgren, Executive Vice President, Chief Vessel Operations and Newbuild Officer Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd., were present for the special ceremony, and were joined by Daniele Fanara, Senior Vice President New Building and After Sales, Fincantieri, Marco Lunardi, Senior Vice President Marghera Shipyard, Fincantieri, and Vice President, Project Manager, Fincantieri Merchant Ships Division, Giuseppe Cusenza.

“The keel laying for Seven Seas Prestige marks an important milestone not only for Regent and Fincantieri, but for the entire industry, as we continue to elevate the standards of ultra luxury cruising," said Luigi Matarazzo, General Manager of Fincantieri Merchant Ships Division. “This ship embodies the innovation and craftsmanship that define our longstanding partnership with Regent Seven Seas Cruises. Leveraging our extensive expertise, know-how, and the technical excellence refined through the successful construction of the Explorer Class vessels, we are proud to bring Regent’s vision to life once again with this remarkable new ship."

Honouring the occasion and a longstanding maritime tradition, three specially selected coins were welded onto the keel of the ship. Dating from the ancient Greeks and Romans, the tradition will see the coins forever embedded into the ship’s structure, bringing luck for all who sail on board. The three coins welded into Seven Seas Prestige are:

  • Seven Seas Prestige coin, specially designed and minted to commemorate the build of Regent’s first new ship class in ten years. With antique gold finishes, the coin is etched with the exterior design of the ship and the keel laying date.
  • A Venetian coin honouring the location of the ship’s build and rich heritage of ship building in Venice. This historic coin, struck in 1688, also symbolises the ongoing partnership between Regent Seven Seas Cruises and Fincantieri.
  • A Christopher Columbus US silver dollar, issued in 1992, the cruise line’s founding year, representing the legacy of Regent Seven Seas Cruises. The coin was minted in recognition of Italian explorer and navigator, Christopher Columbus, sailing to the Americas 500 years before in 1492.
