Six high-jewellery watches of 2015

There’s no doubt in this world that diamonds are truly a girl’s best friend. We bring you six of the fanciest timepieces that guarantee a second look.

1. Be Crazy Haute Joaillerie

Breguet

Crazy is as crazy does. Breguet’s Be Crazy Haute Joaillerie is exactly that — a blooming flower, entirely set with white diamonds in 18k white gold. The heart of the flower sits an ovoid dial, set with 133 baguette-cut diamonds. Slender, blue-steeled, open-tipped hands tell the time at the off-centred, six o’clock position. The diamonds extend out to a bezel of staggered rows, looking as glorious as a gerbera’s bloom. It doesn’t end there though — the timepiece’s case band is similarly set with more than a 1,000 diamonds. Within the bedazzled splendour lies a self-winding calibre, capable of a 38-hour power reserve.

2. LVCEA High Jewellery Diamonds

Bulgari

Roman jeweller Bulgari never strays from its heritage, be it handbags, jewellery, or timepieces. The Serpenti is one of their most distinguished motifs, and is feature in yet another collection — LVCEA. Its bracelet strap features the same scalloping design, albeit in an edgy and contemporary cut. Baguette diamonds are set invisibly in 18k white gold, and with the entire strap covered in 422 diamonds totalling 17.24 carats. The LVCEA High Jewellery Diamonds is punctuated only with blue diamond-shaped hands and a sapphire cabochon crown. Two other variations, with rubies or emeralds, are also available.

3. The Feather’s Secret

Chanel

More than 40 years after her passing, Gabrielle Chanel’s legacy still lives on. The brand has immortalised its founder’s favourite motifs — the lion, camellia flower, feather, and constellations — in a variety of jewellery and timepieces. The Feather’s Secret is a product of such dedication. A myriad of pink sapphire adorn the diamond bracelet, with larger sapphire droplets scattered at random. The concealed timepiece is a bracelet first and foremost, and then, with a light press, the feather floats to the side to reveal a dial, paved with pink baguette sapphires.

4. L’heure du Diamant

Chopard

Dismissing the utilitarian and classic designs for a change, Chopard adopts the Heure du Diamant style to reinvent a dress watch befitting a refined lady. The medium-sized, oval-shaped timepiece gains a complete makeover — the bezel, crown and bracelet are set with round diamonds. The sunburst dial face is kept simple, with smaller diamonds for hour hands.

5. The Fascination

Graff

After the colourful Hallucination of 2014, comes the subdued Fascination this year. Though quiet in colour, the piece manages to stand out with its design and opulence. Diamonds totalling 152.96 carats encrust the entire timepiece — even the dial isn’t spared. The focal point however, is the 38.13-carat pear-shaped diamond, which can be removed and fitted on a shank to be worn as a ring.

6. Premier Hypnotic Star 36mm

Harry Winston

The Premier Hypnotic Star Automatic 36mm is a combination of fine craftsmanship, form, and function. A total of 192 alternating black spinels and white diamonds are invisibly set on the dial, forming three-dimensional icositetragons (shapes with 24 sides). The piece is further surrounded by baguette-cut diamonds on the dial, lugs, and pins. Such a refined exterior on the timepiece does not mean forsaking technicalities. Within the 18k white-gold case lies a self-winding mechanical movement.
