Swarovski Optik has introduced what it claims to be the world’s first AI-supported binoculars, the AX Visio, at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. These smart binoculars utilize advanced technology and high-precision analog optics to offer real-time wildlife identification with just the touch of a button.
Powered by an integrated operating and object-recognition system, along with an onboard neural processing unit, the AX Visio can identify over 9,000 species of birds. It also features built-in GPS to assist in identifying animals based on your location. Additionally, the integrated camera can capture photos and videos at 13 MP or 1080p quality, which can be wirelessly transferred to the Swarovski Optik Outdoor app on your phone.
With a field of view of 1,000 yards, the binoculars are 10 x 32 and equipped with Swarovision technology for crisp, colorful images. The “share discoveries” function allows you to highlight your finds with red arrow markers in the viewfinder and share them with friends.
Designed by industrial designer Marc Newson, the AX Visio boasts a sleek appearance with forest green barrels, a black aluminum bridge, and black eyecups. Inspired by Swarovski Optik’s classic Habich series, Newson ingeniously incorporated the new technology into the design.
While the AX Visio offers impressive features, it comes with a hefty price tag starting at $4,799. However, it includes a rechargeable battery, eyepiece cover, USB charging cable, and a strap, making it a comprehensive package for birdwatching enthusiasts.
