Thailand MICE Road Show in China 2024 Taking Place with New Record High of Chinese MICE Travelers to Thailand

Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) is holding Thailand MICE Road Show in China 2024 in Shanghai and Guangzhou during 20-22 August 2024 to attract Chinese MICE travelers to tap into new development and potential business opportunity in Thailand.

The road show is taking place when the number of Chinese MICE travelers to Thailand during the 3 quarters of TCEB’s fiscal year 2024 (Oct 2023 – June 2024) makes a historic new high of 312,909 pax, beating the existing record of 247,660 pax during the whole year of 2019. It is also set one year ahead of the 50 th year anniversary of the diplomatic tie between China and Thailand in 2025.

Mr. Chiruit Isarangkun Na Ayuthaya, TCEB President, stated that TCEB would like to thank Chinese MICE travelers for their trust in choosing Thailand as their preferred destination, resulting in a new historic high. It is also an outstanding outset for the 50th year anniversary of the diplomatic tie between the two countries as well as a great momentum for business tie following Thailand’s granting visa-free entry to Chinese travelers since last year.

As a Thai government agency in charge of promoting Thailand as a preferred MICE destination and supporting overseas MICE groups traveling in Thailand, TCEB is bringing a total of 40 Thai MICE suppliers from 7 city destinations. They consist of 17 hotels, 2 hotels & venues, 8 DMCs, 3 venues, 1 event organizer, 1 attraction site, 1 airline, 2 government partner organisations and 5 professional exhibition organisers (PEO).

The 7 cities they represent are Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Phuket, Pattaya, Hua Hin, Samui, and Krabi.

The 35 Thai suppliers are scheduled to meet Chinese travel agents or buyers so that they can make a deal in bringing Chinese meeting and incentive (MI) groups and travelers to Thailand. Another 5 Thai PEOs will be meeting Chinese exhibition organisers to attract their trade fairs to Thailand. In both MI and exhibition sectors, TCEB can offer assistance, facilitation and support for Chinese clients.

President of TCEB said that we realise the importance of Chinese MICE market for Thailand. Thailand MICE Road Show in China is, thus, TCEB’s annual flagship trade event that keeps our connection with Chinese friends in MICE industry. It is also our platform to update and offer the best of Thailand that can bring success and memorable experiences for Chinese MICE travelers.

“What’s more is that to celebrate the 50 th year anniversary of the diplomatic tie between China and Thailand in 2025, TCEB is developing a new support scheme “50 Years of Golden Tie" for Chinese MICE market. It will be launched next year. This support scheme is our intention to reward our Chinese clients for their trust in Thailand, making China the largest market source of MICE travelers to Thailand for a decade. The 50 th year anniversary of the relationship is the best occasion to deliver this reward.", stressed Mr. Chiruit.

In recent years, Thailand has undergone development of meeting facilities, MICE products and infrastructure in city destinations where more world-class hotels, state-of-the-art venues, groundbreaking attractions and inventive activities for travelers are mushrooming. High-end shopping complex in Bangkok, culinary delight in Phuket, internationally awarded festivals in Chiang Mai and Pattaya are some fine examples.
This has partly resulted in Thailand being voted Asia’s best destination for meeting and incentive (MI) travelers in 2023 by M&C Asia, Singapore-based travel trade media.

On the side of exhibition, Thailand is currently the top trade fair destination of the Southeast Asian or ASEAN region. In 2024, Thailand’s exhibition industry is set to make a historic high with around 200 international trade shows taking place, both B2B and B2B2C. The industrial sectors that are the strength of Thailand are food industry, agriculture, medical and wellness, beauty and cosmetics, automobile. The future industries are now the agenda of the Thai government, offering potential in such sectors as electric vehicles, automation, logistics.

The development of new MICE products, new business potential and government’s support policy are a strong advantage of Thailand that can inspire and boost business performance of Chinese entrepreneurs. TCEB is ready to support Chinese MICE travelers to tap into such promising opportunities. Thailand MICE Road Show in China 2024 can serve as bridge to Thailand, concluded TCEB President.
