THE GRILL BY TOM BOOTON PARTNERS WITH G.KELLY FOR BRITISH PIE WEEK

CELEBRATING TWO BRITISH INSTITUTIONS WITH A UNIQUE COLLABORATION TO HONOUR LONDON’S ICONIC PIE CULTURE

London, February 7, 2025 – The Grill by Tom Booton partners with G. Kelly, the legendary East London pie shop, to celebrate British Pie Week from March 3–9, 2025. This partnership brings together two iconic British institutions, which share a long history in London rooted in the 1930s, who will come together to honour the enduring legacy of pie shops and their significance to the city’s food culture.

Tom Booton, executive chef of The Grill by Tom Booton, has reimagined the classic pie with his signature contemporary twist. Inspired by G. Kelly’s heritage, the pie will feature a rich filling of pork and mushroom, encased in a delicate, buttery pastry. The dish will be available exclusively at The Grill by Tom Booton from March 3 to 9, served with mashed potato and the G. Kelly’s traditional parsley sauce and vinegars. This pie will be available alongside Tom’s signature chicken and vegetarian pies for the duration of the week.

G. Kelly, a family-run pie shop on Roman Road since 1939, will offer a limited-edition chicken and mushroom pie inspired by Tom Booton’s creation at The Dorchester. This pie will highlight premium British ingredients and will be available for takeaway or dine-in at G. Kelly throughout British Pie Week.

The partnership between The Grill by Tom Booton and G. Kelly celebrates London’s rich history of pie-making, highlighting the enduring appeal of this quintessentially British dish. Both establishments share a deep respect for tradition and an unwavering commitment to quality, making this collaboration a natural fit.

“Pies are a symbol of comfort, heritage, and community in British culture," says Tom Booton. “By working with G. Kelly, we’re honouring this tradition while showcasing the versatility and enduring appeal of pies in both fine dining and classic pie shop settings."

Neil Vening, the third-generation owner of G. Kelly, adds: “It’s a privilege to collaborate with The Grill by Tom Booton for British Pie Week. We hope this partnership shines a spotlight on London’s pie shops and their role in our city’s culinary identity."

This collaboration also seeks to raise awareness of the importance of preserving London’s traditional pie shops, which have been a cornerstone of the city’s culinary landscape for centuries.
