Phil Toledano เจ้าของอินสตาแกรมชื่อดัง @misterenthusiast และAlfred Chan นักออกแบบนาฬิกาจากฮ่องกง ร่วมมือกันสร้างสรรค์นาฬิกา B/1 จากสแตนเลสสตีล 904L ใช้เวลานานถึง 3 ปี โดยที่ทั้งคู่ไม่เคยพบเจอกันมาก่อน แต่ด้วยความชื่นชอบนาฬิกาและสถาปัตยกรรมแบบ Brutalism ที่จุดประกายจากการติดตามอินสตาแกรมของกันและกัน

Phil Toledano, known as @misterenthusiast on Instagram, and Alfred Chan, a watch designer based in Hong Kong, collaborated remotely for three years to create the B/1 watch in 904 stainless steel. Despite never meeting in person, they bonded over their shared passion for watches and Brutalist architecture, initially connecting on Instagram.
Their goal was to fill a gap in the market for architectural and sculptural timepieces, inspired by Brutalist buildings like Marcel Breuer’s 945 Madison and Rolex’s King Midas. The design of the watch, including its case and bracelet, follows a continuous concept design, reminiscent of ’70s era integrated bracelet watches.
The B/1 watch features a crown on the left side, known as a “Destro” watch, catering to left-handers. It boasts a lapis lazuli dial, a coveted design reminiscent of ’70s era watches. Measuring 33.5 mm by 10.40-9.10 mm thick, with lugs measuring 32 mm across, it is slightly larger than other rectangular-shaped models. Equipped with a Swiss-made Sellita SW100 automatic movement, it offers 42 hours of power reserve.
Despite not having a business plan, Toledano and Chan’s collaboration resulted in a meticulously designed timepiece born out of their shared design tastes and conversations. With only 175 pieces available at a retail price of $4,000, the B/1 watch is expected to sell out quickly when it drops on May 17th through Toledano & Chan and Hodinkee.
