Dubai and Abu Dhabi, less than 100 miles apart, are strikingly different. Dubai is known for its futuristic glitz, while Abu Dhabi offers a softer, slower, and less shiny exterior, positioning itself as a wellness destination. This is exemplified by the new women-only spa, Kintsugi Space.
Founded by female wellness enthusiasts, Kintsugi Space opened in November 2023 on Al Reem Island. The seven-floor, pastel-pink spa features international experts like Patrizia Bortolin from Preidlhof and Anastasia Achilleos, a celebrity facialist. Treatments range from ancient practices like chi nei tsang to avant-garde methods using quantum principles, high-tech equipment, and sound and light therapies.
Memberships range from three to 11 months, starting at $3,920, with six-day retreats for non-members starting at $8,167. Achilleos highlights the spa’s unique blend of quantum technology, quality touch, plant-based menus, and Italian influence.
Abu Dhabi’s wellness foundation includes the 2015 opening of the Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi and the Kayan Wellness Festival. In 2025, the SHA wellness clinic and hotel will open in Sahel Al Emarat, focusing on natural therapies and regenerative medicine. Prices for SHA’s services will likely align with its other locations, starting at $7,796.
Additionally, Abu Dhabi’s first wellness-focused residential community, the Source, is coming to Saadiyat Grove. Starting at $767,785, it will feature amenities like a wellness concierge and rooftop zen gardens. Due to high demand, 148 units were added after the initial 204 sold out quickly.
